Dining, Dancing and Living Well: Our Fall Festival in Macon Is the Social Event of the Season

Harvest festivals are plentiful in Macon, the “Festival Capital of Georgia.” Welcoming crisp, pumpkin-spiced days is easy when abundant celebrations of cuisine, culture, music and history are happening around every corner.

At Carlyle Place, the fall fun is dialed up so high that we need an entire week to fit it in. As the leaves change color and farms overflow with apples and gourds, the anticipation builds for Harvest Week. This annual fall festival in Macon is packed with live entertainment, autumn-themed activities and (of course) a bounty of great food. Let’s grab a hot mug of cider and take a closer look.

From setting tables and hanging decorations to booking entertainment, our Resident Life Team was hard at work making Harvest Week a celebration to remember. Special thanks to our dining and facility teams for creating the tastiest fall buffet in Macon.

Grüß Gott! The beer was flowing, and the brats and schnitzel were cooking at our Oktoberfest blast. After a hearty meal, volks bopped along with the Fabulous Boomers, a band known for its contemporary adult hits, oldies, beach and progressive country music. Bonus: All that dancing is a boost for heart health!

The Pub and the Grande Hosted a Delizioso Pizza Party

Did somebody say “pizza?” Residents feasted on piping-hot pies topped with their choice of olives, pepperoni, cheese and more. A selection of pub beverages, including beer and wine, rounded out the evening.

Fall Follies Happy Hour Showcased the “Talents” of Our Staff

When they’re not helping residents live their best lives, the Carlyle Place team is busy polishing their acts for our annual Fall Follies variety show. This year’s performances featured singing, dancing, skits and lots of colorful costumes.

Things Going “Bump” in the Night

Richard, our resident storyteller, sent chills down everyone’s spine with suspenseful tales and legends from the spirit world. This spooky gathering has become a yearly tradition at our fall festival in Macon. Desserts and coffee were served, including everyone’s favorite—s’mores. Even the ghosts were impressed!

Comedian Jody Fuller Made Everyone Laugh ‘Til They Cried

Jody Fuller is a father, speaker, writer and soldier who has served three tours of duty in Iraq. He’s also been named one of the top 15 southern stand-up comedians by It’s a Southern Thing. A lifetime stutterer, Jody plays up his speech impediment in many of his sets and even makes his stutter a key part of his punchlines.

Bourbon & BBQ Closed Out Our Fall Festival in Macon

On our final night of Harvest Week, the Ruby Reds—a Carlyle Place favorite and one of the longest tenured jazz bands in Georgia—played smooth sounds while residents enjoyed our final Harvest Week party. The BBQ ribs and chicken were delicious, and the bourbon wasn’t bad either.

Socializing Under October Skies Supports Healthy Aging

Community festivals go a long way toward promoting social wellness by bringing people together to feast, dance and enjoy each other’s company. They also offer a chance to build friendships and strengthen ties with neighbors.

It helps that folks who call Carlyle Place home are among the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. They’re always ready to catch the latest movie, take a bike ride or head to the Pub for a pint. Residents also flock to our diverse clubs featuring everything from theater to woodworking and much more.

There’s a Lot to Fall in Love With Here

From the moment you enter the gates, you’ll feel the energy in the air. Seniors are socializing, walking and making the most of the balmy temperatures. And because they never have to worry about housekeeping, yardwork or finding high-quality healthcare, they’re free to live every moment to the fullest.
